Accommodations
Bee Healthy Honey Farms
We were so excited to come to South Florida and see our friends and family again, especially our son, Caleb. However, it turned out this was not the exciting, fun-filled stay we had been hoping for. There was a lot of friction with family, the accommodations were not ideal for us, and it was expensive for what it offered. In the end, we were left feeling very isolated and disappointed overall.
We chose to stay in Delray because it was close to our friends and family. We were staying on someone’s property, and there were no restrooms or showers available to us. We knew this ahead of time and thought we could make it work because we would be close to everyone. However, when we arrived, it felt like we were expected to stay very hidden on the property, and as though there may have been issues with the neighbors.
I felt very uncomfortable with where we were staying, and the longer we stayed, the worse it became. I tried to stay out of sight and leave as small a footprint as possible, but it was still really uncomfortable.
At the same time, it seemed like our friends and family didn’t really have time for us, which left me feeling isolated and rejected. However, during this period, Caleb was being recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank, so we were able to participate in that celebration. That was a wonderful experience. It was really nice spending time with our son. He came over and spent time with us and the cat, which made the stay feel a little more special despite everything else going on.
Despite it being winter, it was miserably hot, there was constant traffic, and the whole experience served as a reminder of why we had left South Florida in the first place.
