The Trolley Stop RV Park

We didn’t move very far from Fitzgerald to Enigma, Georgia, but what a difference that move made. Trolley Stop RV Park was a beautiful place. The owners were a lovely couple who worked hard to keep the park running smoothly. They had a shower and bathroom area that was kept clean, and washers and dryers that were always in good condition. The owners stayed on top of everything, and if anything didn’t work, it was quickly addressed and fixed.

The people we stayed with were kind, caring, and supportive. It was a really nice location, with much better access to groceries and meals in the surrounding areas. Surrounded by cotton fields and nut trees, we were able to experience the change of seasons—from the end of the hot summer, through fall, and eventually into the cooler winter weather.

The owners were very involved—Boris has a woodshop, and he helped Herb build shelves inside one of our cabinets. We also realized that we didn’t need to set up the Gazelle Tandem Gazebo everywhere we went. We had pared down our belongings enough that we could start storing things underneath both tip-outs.

Thanksgiving fell while we were there, and Trolley Stop hosted a potluck. We decided to buy a propane oven, so we set up one of the smaller Gazelle gazebos with a table and chair to use as our cooking space.

There were a few stray cats in the park, which led to some behavioral issues with our cat. While we were grateful to have 24/7 access to the laundry, managing everything in such a small space caused some stress. We had to find ways to protect our beds, which meant zipping up the bed enclosures at night and anytime we left her unattended.

Then it started to get cold. When we had the smaller trailer, we used the Luxe Liner from PopUpGizmos. With the larger trailer, we had to decide whether to purchase it again or try something different. After some research, we decided on Gekko pop-up covers. They could be used in both hot and cold weather and weren’t too difficult to put on and take off.

They arrived while we were there, and one of the guys in the park helped me install them and gave me tips on how to do it on my own. We also purchased a telescoping ladder so I could reach the top to attach them.

I forgot to mention that the new trailer has an electric awning, which is really awesome—but for some reason, we rarely remember to use it. It covers Herb’s tip-out and would help keep his area much cooler, and it’s very easy to set up and stake down.

We used a small heater in the trailer, along with the built-in AC/heater unit. It was still cold at times, but also cozy and very dry. On my birthday, Herb left early in the morning, and I didn’t even hear him go. When he came back, he had lots of shopping bags. I got really excited, thinking they were birthday presents—but it turned out he had gone grocery shopping at Walmart and bought electric blankets for both of us and a heating pad for our cat, Poe. Honestly, it was the best gift ever.

While we were at Trolley Stop, we had to decide where to go next. We knew we wanted to be in South Florida for my son’s winter break. The plan was to travel until his last day in Gainesville, meet him there, and then drive down to South Florida together.

We were enjoying our stay at Trolley Stop so much that we extended it—first a little, then all the way until it was time to go to Gainesville. Eventually, we realized that our son didn’t need us to drive down with him after all, so we went directly from Trolley Stop to Delray Beach.
