Sunny Oaks RV Park

We drove down to the RV park in Jacksonville. It was very nice, but extremely hot. The area wasn’t in the best neighborhood, but we were all the way in the back and still felt safe and secure.

We didn’t have much space, but we set up the Gazelle Tandem Gazebo behind our trailer. The man we were planning to trade trailers with had rented the spot next to us. He arrived a day or so after we did and left his trailer so we could look through it. He also checked out ours and was happy to move forward with the trade.

The larger toy hauler was an InTech Flyer Discover. It had a tip-out bed on each side, and although it was only a couple of feet bigger on paper, it felt huge in comparison. It also offered more interior storage and had an indoor kitchen instead of an outside slide-out. We decided to go ahead with the trade and moved into the larger trailer.

We were able to go to the DMV and finalize the paperwork for both the new truck and the trailer. Everything went smoothly. My husband did a quick test run with the truck and trailer, and everything worked well.

The new trailer allows each of us to have our own bed. It also has a kitchen setup with a large fridge, plenty of space for the cat’s belongings, a dedicated eating area, and even room for a bathroom. We now use folding tables inside the trailer and folding chairs when needed. The kitchen includes a two-burner stovetop and a sink.

We were able to empty at least one tote into the trailer. We had already consolidated two to three totes into the truck and were storing the generator there as well. This reduced the number of items we had to move in and out of the trailer each time. While the totes weren’t especially difficult to move, there were still a few loose items that needed better organization.

Jacksonville was also very hot. While we were there, I was able to meet up with a couple of family members, which was really nice. However, Jacksonville is also where we realized that ants were going to be a problem.

At first, I couldn’t keep ants off my Starlink. I bought ant bait and placed it around the Starlink, moving it every couple of days. Then we discovered two totes where the ants hadn’t just gotten inside—they had started laying eggs in the handles. Before we left, we were able to clean everything out and get rid of them, but we were still dealing with ants inside the trailer as well.
