As we continue moving northwest, we’re still searching for places to stay, things to do, ways to stay cool, and ideas for improving our trailer and storage solutions.

This weekend was a productive one. We worked on submitting our apps to the Apple App Store, updated our website, and continued improving our journaling system. Around the trailer, we glued down the ventilation tiles beneath our mattress, cleaned the tip-outs, tidied up our campsite, picked up our packages, and took out the trash. We also spent a lot of time working on storage solutions and figuring out how to improve the overall workflow and living space inside the trailer. I made dinner tonight— a creamy orzo dish with spinach that turned out really delicious.

We’re leaving next Saturday, and I want to make sure I’m fully prepared for the move. Although we don’t have much set up outside anymore, the inside of the trailer will take some work to organize and secure before travel day. Our next destination is Wichita Falls, Texas, and it looks like a very nice place to stay.

I’ve also been spending time planning our route all the way to Bend, Oregon, trying to find interesting stops and good campgrounds along the way.

The weather today was hot. Thunderstorms had been forecast, but it never seemed to get very overcast. We did get a few rain showers on and off throughout the day, but nothing major.

One of today’s projects was mounting our fans and installing cargo nets. We spent a good portion of the day thinking about how to maximize our space and storage. Living in a small trailer means every inch matters, and we’re constantly finding new ways to make it more functional and comfortable. With each stop, we’re learning a little more about what works, what doesn’t, and how to make this tiny home on wheels fit our lives a little better.

There are so many things I could say about this RV park. It was such a lovely place and exactly what I needed to help me recover from our previous stay.

We arrived in Texas and settled into Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in Terrell. Right away, it felt welcoming and well run. The office was organized, well staffed, and even had a small store. On the other side of the building were the bathrooms, laundry facilities, and showers, all of which were kept clean and in excellent condition. This was also where packages were delivered, making it easy to receive mail and deliveries.

The park had a beautiful, well-maintained swimming pool, which quickly became one of my favorite features. The afternoons could get very hot inside the trailer, so having a place to cool off every day was wonderful. There was also a hot tub next to the pool, and it was just as clean and well cared for. However, with the Texas heat, we never felt much need to use it.

The property itself was beautiful. There were birds everywhere, and scattered throughout the grounds were charming little tiny homes that added to the park’s character. Everything felt peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully maintained.

Honestly, I don’t remember venturing out much or paying much attention to the surrounding area. I was focused on healing, relaxing, and settling into our new lifestyle. Most days, I spent my time enjoying the park and cooling off in the pool.

Looking back, what stands out most is how restorative our stay was. After some of the challenges and disappointments of previous locations, Bluebonnet Ridge felt like a place where I could finally breathe, relax, and begin to feel at home again.

One morning, Herb went to take a shower and then couldn’t get back into the trailer. After several attempts, he ended up lying on the trailer floor and he also cut his knee in the process. He was understandably upset. Eventually, he managed to get back up, but then fell again while trying to retrieve his towel.

I only had two clients that day. The rest of my time was spent working on the website and updating our itinerary through the winter holidays in Delray.

84° / 68° — Quick Thunderstorms and Wind

Today, Herb worked on the door hinge so the door wouldn’t swing all the way open and latch onto the magnetic catch, which made it difficult to close. I made gazpacho for dinner, and Herb did the laundry.

II have not slept well for the last couple of nights. One night was because of the rain. Today was a long day, and I was exhausted.

Yesterday, I was not feeling well. Met with a Telehealth doctor and Herb went to CVS this morning to pick up an antibiotic for me. Today was also the day he took his MS injection.

We’re preparing to move on Saturday, so tonight was the first of our “restaurant dinners,” with another planned for tomorrow night. Eating out before moving gives us a chance to get packed up and cleaned without having to worry about cooking.

I used Amazon Health when I got sick, and the experience was amazing. One of the challenges of traveling full-time is figuring out how to access healthcare. Right now, I’m trying to determine how to handle preventive care and routine screenings while traveling and still have everything covered by insurance.

Today, Herb called and booked our next three campgrounds, so we’re scheduled through July 11. On Saturday, we’ll head to Wichita Falls, Texas. After that, we’ll be going to Canyon, Texas, and then, I believe, Penrose, Colorado.

I can tell I’m becoming a little more irritable because I’m stressed about our move on Saturday.

Last Night in Terrell

Thank goodness it’s Friday.

Today was a long workday, and I was very tired. We did a little pre-packing, but tomorrow morning we’re moving to Wichita Falls, Texas.

I’m always a little nervous the night before a move, especially when the weather is hot. At the same time, I’m excited to see what the next location is like.

Fortunately, it’s not a long drive. We should arrive in less than five hours.

Move Day

Packing up this morning actually went better than expected. Although we left a little later than planned, we were still on schedule.

When we arrived in Wichita Falls, however, it was extremely hot, and I had a difficult time unpacking and getting everything set up. I’m currently taking antibiotics, and I wasn’t feeling great to begin with, but the heat was the biggest challenge.

Packing up in Terrell was relatively easy. Herb wasn’t able to help with much, but that was okay.

Once we arrived, I started unpacking while Herb went to pick up food. By the time he returned, he was able to help me install the Gekko cover on his tip-out.

I had to keep taking breaks because I was becoming lightheaded and nauseated. I was drenched in sweat and really struggling. The forecast says it’s going to be even hotter over the next few days, and I still have a few things left to do before we’re fully settled. Unfortunately, some of those tasks are outside. I’m hoping to finish them tomorrow.

Poe was incredibly well-behaved during the drive. I was really pleased with how well she handled the trip. The only thing that concerned me was that she wasn’t eating or drinking much water.

Part of that was my fault. Somehow, while moving her belongings into the van, her water bowl got dirty, and she didn’t want to drink from it. I tried adding extra water to her food, but she still wasn’t eating much.

Once we arrived and I had unpacked enough to bring her into the trailer, she did an excellent job walking on her leash into our new home. As soon as she settled in, she ate a large meal, drank plenty of water, and quickly made up for what she had missed that morning.

Seeing her adjust so well made the end of a very long, hot day feel a little easier.
