Big Rig RV Park — Wide Open Spaces

Caleb said goodbye to us at our last location. He had spent our final night there with us and mentioned that he might join us for Spring Break, although he wasn’t sure what his plans would be yet.

As we prepared to leave, Caleb took photos of us pulling out while I wrestled with the cat. As usual, she won.

We were headed to A Stones Throw RV Park in Lamont, Florida. They had told us they had a few spaces available and would show us our options when we arrived. When we got there, they drove us over to Big Rig RV Park instead, and it turned out to be exactly what we had been looking for.

For the first time in a while, we had privacy and space. We could set up our campsite the way we wanted without feeling crowded or exposed. The sites were spread out, and the open surroundings gave us room to breathe. After some of the tighter, busier, or more restrictive places we had stayed, it felt like a luxury.

The location was beautiful, with wide-open views and a peaceful atmosphere. We immediately felt at home there. Even better, there was a chance Caleb might spend Spring Break with us, which made us even more excited about our stay. We settled in looking forward to enjoying the space, the quiet, and hopefully some more time with our son.

We were eagerly awaiting the delivery of our PaHaQue tent, which we had been excited about since ordering it in December. If it arrived in time and Caleb decided to join us for Spring Break, it would give him his own space to stay in during his visit.

The package finally arrived, but we still hadn’t heard whether Caleb would be coming.

The area was beautiful, and while we were there, we completed the installation of our shower setup in the van. I also created a temporary shower enclosure using the van’s rear doors and a few tarps. It worked surprisingly well. Taking warm showers outside every day while surrounded by beautiful trees and listening to the birds was absolutely glorious.

Then Caleb arrived.

We spent a wonderful week together. We explored the area, took him thrift shopping, and simply enjoyed having him with us. It was great to share a little of our new lifestyle with him and spend quality time together. The week went by far too quickly, but we made a lot of good memories.

When it was time for us to leave, Caleb left as well. We said our goodbyes and headed off to our next destination, grateful for the time we had been able to spend together.
